Seamless Shopify integration for a high-performance mobile shopping app

Saberland.de is a specialized online store for high-quality lightsabers and accessories that has been successfully operating on Shopify for years. To further enhance the shopping experience and enable even closer customer engagement, the company tasked us with developing a powerful mobile shopping app for iOS and Android.

Challenge

Developing the Saberland app presented us with a number of technical and strategic challenges:

  • Shopify does not directly support cross-platform apps, so a custom solution had to be developed.

  • Fast loading times and optimal performance were essential to ensure a smooth shopping experience on mobile devices.

  • Easy scalability for future features such as push notifications and advanced customer interactions had to be guaranteed.

Solution

Based on our existing white-label platform for Shopify apps, we developed a customized mobile shopping app that offers the following advantages:

  • Cross-platform development with .NET MAUI to enable an efficient and native user experience on iOS and Android.

  • Direct Shopify integration with modern GraphQL Storefront API interfaces instead of outdated SDKs.

  • Optimized loading times & UX/UI design to provide a fast and intuitive shopping experience.

  • Push notifications to inform customers directly about offers, news and promotions.

  • Privacy-friendly Matomo Analytics integration to gain valuable customer insights without jeopardizing GDPR compliance.

Thanks to this customized solution, the app could be integrated into the existing Shopify environment without extensive backend development and with maximum performance.

Results

The Saberland.de mobile app has been available in the Apple App Store and Google Play Store since November 2024 and offers:
