Home of Apps: A look behind the scenes

As part of the preparations for the launch 🚀 of our App-as-a-Service platform Home of Apps, I have been working with Kubernetes extensively for the first time in the past few weeks and months. Docker 🐳 containers have been part of my toolset for quite some time 🛠, but for our new platform we want to ensure scalability 📈 and reliability 💪🏼.
I have been using the German hosting provider Hetzner for many years and have been using their cloud hosting services for quite some time ☁. So I looked for appropriate solutions in connection with Kubernetes and tried the kube-hetzner project with Terraform first. Somehow I didn't warm to it and had problems getting my services up and running.
Now, after a few weeks of research, I tried the second approach using the hetzner-k3s project and this time it worked and our new infrastructure is up and running 💪🏼. In addition to the resources of the hetzner-k3s project, the articles by Simon Ostendorf for setting up the reverse proxy Traefik and Juanjo Garcia for setting up Cert Manager were very helpful.
